Family Amble 2010

Active Ageing Australia, with support from Life. Be in it, promoted this inaugural event to community groups, local councils and organisations to attract over 200 participants.

It was a great opportunity to connect senior people in our community with their otherwise busy families. Grandparents enjoyed the walk from Karrawirra Park, along the Torrens River and through the Botanic Gardens with their children, grandchildren, friends and extended family members.

The Honourable Jennifer Rankine MP, Minister for Families and Communities, opened the walk with a flag wave.

African Drumming and Dance Moves set walkers off on their chosen route with further magical multicultural performers encouraging them along the way.

The Adelaide City Concert Band welcomed participants back to the Parade Grounds where Adelaide Colonial Dancers performed.

Goodie show-bags filled with fresh produce, healthy snacks and health information rewarded amblers. Health Promotion stalls, a giant sausage sizzle and freshly brewed coffee added to the relaxed atmosphere.

Active Ageing Australia would like to thank the Office for the Ageing and SA Health for their generous support.
